Stephen McCoy
Founder and Writer at Sustainable Lifestyle
I created Sustainable Lifestyle to make sustainable living feel practical, approachable, and realistic for everyday life. Here I share useful ideas about reducing waste, composting, creating a more sustainable home, and making thoughtful choices about the products we use.
Why I Started Sustainable Lifestyle
Sustainable living can sometimes sound much more complicated than it needs to be. There are endless recommendations, products, systems, and rules telling us what we should change. But real life rarely works that way.
Most people are simply trying to make better choices while also thinking about their budget, their family, their time, and what is actually practical in their home.
That is the idea behind Sustainable Lifestyle. I wanted to create a resource focused on the practical side of sustainability — the small decisions and habits that can gradually make a meaningful difference without requiring us to completely change the way we live.
I believe sustainable living should be something you can actually live with, not another impossible standard to keep up with.
My goal is to make the information here useful whether you are taking your first steps toward a lower-waste lifestyle or simply looking for a better way to handle something you encounter every day.
What I Write About
Sustainable Lifestyle focuses primarily on practical sustainability around the home. I am particularly interested in the areas where environmental choices intersect with everyday routines.
Practical How-To Guides
Clear guidance for solving everyday sustainability problems, from composting questions to reducing household waste.
Product Reviews

Sustainable Living
Realistic ideas for creating a more environmentally conscious home without making sustainability unnecessarily complicated.
Areas I Cover
These are some of the main subjects you will find throughout Sustainable Lifestyle.
How I Approach the Content
I try to approach sustainability from the perspective of someone who actually has to use the information in everyday life. That means looking beyond broad advice and asking the practical questions that often matter most.
Is something easy to maintain? Does it make sense for a normal household? What are the limitations? Who might benefit from it, and who might be better off choosing something else?
For product-focused content, I aim to explain the features, advantages, limitations, and practical considerations that can help a reader make a more informed decision rather than simply presenting a product as the answer for everyone.
For how-to articles, I focus on explaining the reasoning behind the advice as well as the steps themselves. Understanding why something works makes it much easier to adapt the information to your own situation.
A Note About Recommendations
Some content on Sustainable Lifestyle includes product recommendations, reviews, and comparisons. Certain links may be affiliate links, which means the site may earn a commission if a reader makes a qualifying purchase.
Affiliate relationships do not change the purpose of the content. My goal is to provide useful information that helps readers decide whether a particular product is appropriate for their own needs.
I believe transparency is important, especially when recommendations are involved. Readers should have enough information to make their own decisions rather than feeling pressured to buy something simply because it appears in an article.
